Having taken specific master classes with the Osteo-Manual-Training (OMT) team at a school of osteopathy in London, I am able to safely and effectively treat pregnant clients.*
All treatments are safe and can be extremely beneficial when pregnant. Massage may help with achy legs, backs, shoulders, necks and even pelvic girdle pain, (PGP). Reflaxology and acupuncture can be an effective way of managing symptoms such as morning sickness, hot flushes and tiredness. These therapies are also a safe and natural way of encouraging labour if you have passed your due date. It is thought that the use of complementary therapies throughout pregnancy may reduce the risk of intervention. Please feel free to ask if you are unsure about which treatment would be suitable for you.
The primary concern of any session is your comfort, a treatment when pregnant can be carried out in a number of different ways. There is a massage chair which the majority of people find the more comfortable way of having the treatment performed. The chair is great for pregnancy massage, it is designed to support your body and head without putting any pressure on your bump. Alternatively, you may prefer to lay on your side on the massage bed. There will always be plenty of pillows and towels to maximise comfort.
* if you have not been undergoing regular treatments of this nature, it is advised to wait until your second trimester before starting.
